Two of these photos are of the Admiral Jellico dances one looks like it was Christmas due to the paper chains. My parents are in these photos and my half brother Philip Angerstein is at the front left, so I am guessing this was taken around 1954-1956. Roy my father is taller man behind Philip. Tall man at the back is Ernie Martin with Peggy martin and her mother Florence Angerstein bang in the middle.
The photo of the Jellico with the exit sign again has my family, my mum Elsie Pickett far left at front with floral dress with my dad Roy behind her. In the middle is my nan Florence with white earrings and necklace with her very short husband Albert Angerstein.
The third photo with the sign at back stating Dancing at the Jellico, left of the photo is my mum Elsie her mum Florence behind her and Albert behind Florence.
Anyone that can name any others would be great.

Good old days indeed. Third photo, Dancing at the Jellico, dead centre are my mum and dad, Vera and Ken Wright. Dad with open neck shirt and bald head, mum with dark hair and patterned dress, which she would have made herself. Front, sitting, 3rd from right, is H.P.Fielder.
Looks like summertime early 1950s, possibly before the floods.
I have a number of photos from Canvey News of similar gatherings, but have not seen these before. I plan to dig them out and pass these on to the Archive soon.
Ken and Vera moved to the Island in 1947 and left in 1962, having been active in various local clubs and groups including, Rail Travellers’ Association, 29 Club, Village Hall committee, Conservatives, urban district council, jazz band, Benfleet Orchestra, Chamber of Commerce, Horticultural Society, plus rabbit clubs, flower arranging and they ran their own guest house in Fairlop Avenue.
I’m not sure but would that be a young George Hogbin wearing a army uniform in the first photo?
