Alan Whitcomb and the 1950s

A meeting and talk

By Janet Penn

Alan Whitcomb did us proud again yesterday with a talk about the 1950s during which he changed from a boy of 10 to a man of 20. A post-war era that saw a lot of changes not only to Canvey but to the country in general as it recovered from the war years.

Alan kept us all entertained and brought back lots of memories for the audience whether they were from Canvey or not. It was our childhood years he was talking about and we could all relate.

Alan does our talks for free but we passed the hat round and raised nearly £50 for CISCA house a place very dear to his heart.

Thank you Alan.
