"Arena", 3 May Avenue

The photograph shows my grandparents’ bungalow in the 1940’s. My grandfather, Harry Harvey,  is standing at the front door and grandmother, Alice Harvey, on the left at the front gate. He died in February 1949 but she lived there until the late 1960’s. I was born there in September 1949 but lived with my parents at Hooton’s Stores and petrol station which was between Marcos Road and San Remo Road.

To the rear on the left you can just see an extension which was a glass-roofed studio with a photographer’s darkroom.
