Bata Shop Furtherwick Road

At last we have proper photos of the Bata shop in Furtherwick Road. These were sent in by Gillian Racher whose parents ran the shop before the war.

Gill says the Bata photos may well have been taken at the time of this quote by Bata Head Office.

“We were quoted by Bata Head Office as being the best in ‘sales progress’ for summer trading. Dad was given the credit plus having his photo in the firm’s newspaper.” Taken from Gill’s mum’s account at the time.
