This view is one of two identical cards in Mr. Thipthorp’s collection. They each have interesting messages on the back which I’ve reproduced below.
One is dated 1919 and reads: Dear Ruth, this is like the big field where we are staying and the bungalows all over it. I rather like it, you get a fine blow, there is another young girl staying with us, so there are 5 altogether. We are going to Southend tomorrow for a change. It is really lovely weather today, love from Nelly
The other card is dated August 1920 and was addressed to Mrs Pooger, Tulse Hill and reads: Would you be so kind as to take Ma a 1/2 pint milk and one white loaf from your baker’s tomorrow Saturday. I hope to be home about 6 o/c. Yours sincerely, G. Jarralt
