Canvey Island Carnival Entry

Here is some new information received recently at one of the Archive’s ‘Meet a Researcher’ session at the Library. Mrs Janet Fryer and her husband came in to talk to us about this photo. We were told that the young lady in the photo is Janet nee Hocking and it was taken in the mid 1950s. All the flowers that decorate the float were hand made out of paper by members of the Horticultural Society. One of the gentleman members taught them how to make the flowers.
