Thumbs-up champion Ian Drain is exhausted after an 800 mile hitch-hike.
The sponsored journey took him from Canvey’s Haystack pub, where he is the manager, to Edinburgh and back. Ironically the pub is in Long Road.
But he had a passport of sorts which made him easily recognisable as a man of the road – a tartan scarf.
That smoothed the way for the Edinburgh born publican on his charity odyssey, during which he spent just 28p on cups of tea.
Ian, 31, said: “If anyone else wants to make the trip I reckon I’ve got enough information to make it simple.”
However, the 24 hour deadline he set himself for the trip wasn’t met. It took him 26 ½ hours to complete the journey.
