Frankie has done a fantastic job.

During the flood the Red Cow was the Army’s HQ on the Island for ‘Operation Canute’. The pub was built on slightly higher ground and had remained dry. So it was here the army set up their HQ and sandbags were filled by soldiers and islanders then transported to the breaches before the next tide.

Because of its role during the flood the name was later changed to The King Canute.
