  • About 1959 no damage to arm but just not liking to be slung up like that. He would have been fussed a little afterwards. Beatrice had been in the Red Cross from the age of 12. Awarded many medals for her long and continued service. On Canvey she was the Cadet officer for most of the 12 years we lived here. Previous experience Hasler Royal Naval Hospital. Dick Whittington Hospital Highgate London. Many major military  and civilian assembles, also on duty in theatres in London. On leaving Canvey she had the opportunity she always wanted of training to be a nurse it had to be just as S.E.N., as we had four children to look after. Her passing out was accompanied with the information that the best qualifier of the group was, yes Beatrice it was a very proud moment as she was also the eldest by a long way.

  • Hey Dad, look at those Lysander, probably Start Rite, sandals I’m wearing! I remember the harness too with the little bell on the front. Was possibly late 1959/1960
