Taken in 1975 this photo shows how close some of the mobile homes were to the tanks next door.

Is this definitely Thorney Bay ? It looks to me a little like Hole Haven Caravan Park, the post card of which famously had the storage tanks air-brushed out.

You could be right. It does not actually say on the back of the photo.

Hi Tony, I would love to see this postcard you talk of – the one with the storage tanks air-brushed out. Do you know where I could find a picture/a copy?

I lived in a caravan at Hole Haven from Jan 1971 until March 1972. I remember there was a shop on the site run by a lady called Bella. I used to pay my rent to an old ex bookmaker, Stan Barret who used to race top grade greyhounds throughout the country. Lovely lovely memories.

I think it’s hole haven. We went on holiday there in the 60,s it wasn’t great rained etc but we managed . Later my mum and dad got a caravan at Thorney bay. It’s not quite as close to the tanks. I loved canvey.
