  • Difficult but…

    These two photos were probably taken from inside the Dutch Cottage.

    It’s certainly earlier than suggested – I’d say sometime in the Sixties. It pre-dates all of the development of St. Michael’s neighbourhood and I can’t see anything in the Charfleets area.

    In the upper photo the just visible to right of the lamppost is traffic on Canvey Road and left of the Union Flag is St. Katherine’s church (you really have to zoom the page to see this though).

    The line of houses in the lower photo are on the southern side of Dyke Crescent. The five semis have all been extended now but it is possible to place them. The detached house in the foreground is still recognisable.
