Womans Institute 1960's

From Keith Bonsor

Womens Institute 1960's
Keith Bonsor

This picture from Keith Bonsor’s collection was taken in the Womens Institute Hall in the early 1960’s. Standing at the back is Mrs Hobbs who was a pianist well known on the Island for playing in orchestras and giving lessons. Immediately in front of her is Keith’s mother Margaret.

There is a great array of cakes and nibbles in the front. We are not sure what the occasion was but they had fetes, bazaars and sponge competitions where Mr Grout was the judge.

If anyone tell us the occasion or name any of the other ladies please comment below.

  • How lovely to see a picture of Mrs Hobbs who was my piano teacher when I was young. Her teaching was very good and I went on to become a music teacher myself working in the local junior schools in Langdon Hills. I am now retired
