Kingsley Hall 1980
Norman Chisman

This picture was taken by Norman Chisman in 1980 and shows Kingsley Hall in a rather dilapidated state compared to our earlier pictures. We think this was taken not long before it was demolished. Does anyone know when that was?

  • My wife Irene (nee Linge,) remembers that when she was in the girl guides (Miss Albutt was in charge)she was sent to Kingsley Hall to pick windfall apples with the scouts for ‘Bob a Job’ week and was allowed to go into the house, and recalls great big sea shells or conches to give them their proper name on display does anyone else remember this?

  • Hi Laurence, did you live on Coker road? If you did, there’s a photo of your mum & my mum having their daily yarn here.

  • The sea shells that were on display were brought to the school by Gwen Evans brother, who was a radio operator in the Merchant Navy.
