the bomb site u refer to looks like the end of deepwater rd a doodlebug came down on the last lot of houses .cyril

Actually I have since found out it is Benfleet. But have not yet put that info on here.

this is May 1953 23 Watlington Road Benfleet. I was cutting the edge of the lawn with long handle shears .when a Meteor fighter jet crashed in the garden next door I was 60 feet away from the plane .the shears I was holding were broken in half .the clothespost 2 feet away was broken in three by debris that is me in the picture age 9 and not a scratch on me!

I was told by my parents there was a 'bomb crater' down, I think it's called Marine Parade off of Furtherwick Road if that is any help.
