Home Making at Canvey Part 2

Southend Times Pictorial Supplement 1923

Seized with land-hunger and enamoured of Canvey, Joe and Elsie next day called on Mr H Price-Powell, who knows all about land in Canvey

He sent them to Mr E Lawrence L.S.A an architect who displayed to them one type of house for which Canvey is famous. They were delighted with all they saw and —-

Back they went to Mr Price-Powell to ask him to build them a bungalow. He showed them one fast nearing completion

They next went to Canvey Supply Co and here you see the young couple talking to the foreman of the works about (sorry unreadable)

No one goes to Canvey without calling on “Our Baker” Mr Marsh and the confectionery he showed Joe and Elsie made them decide he was good enough for them

Cretonne plays a great part in Canvey life and furnishings and so Elsie and her hubby chose some at Mr Foster’s famous stores and Post Office, Leigh Beck

The excellent display at Sutter’s, the grocer took the eye of the young couple and they quickly became the owners of some of the goods.

A pleasant siesta with a cup of tea to cheer, was taken at the Cricksea Paln Court, on the Gains Road. It proved an extremely welcome rest.
