I have been rambling down memory lane and Jones’ Corner came into my mind. I know my mum went into Pauline’s and I know there was a sweet shop near there and I seem to remember a grocery store as well. Does anyone remember the shops near the King Canute? There was a tobacconist, I think it was Newman’s maybe, I know my mum would probably be put away now for sending me to the shops at the grand old age of 5. There was an off license, a bakers, a butcher with a sign that said barb-b-que, which I had no idea what it meant and a green grocers. She would send me for 20 Nelson Filter tipped. I remember my nan and aunt would come on the Midland railway from Leyton to spend the weekend and we would go to the Lobster Smack and have shandy and buy winkles and prawns for tea. Does anyone remember when Z Cars was filmed up between the Dutch Village and the station?
