We have been very lucky to be loaned many maps and building plans by John Lawrence of Canvey Supply this is just one.

This is a building plan for a proposed bungalow in Beatrice Avenue. The builder – Roland Francke. The Architect – Eugene E Lawrence.

Roland George Francke came to Canvey in the early 1920s. He started building homes in the Beatrice, Thelma and Fairlop Avenues area also Roland Lane and he lived in ‘Inglenook’ in Fairlop Avenue you can see its location on the map below. Beatrice was his wife and Thelma his daughter. He ran his business from Inglenook with his son Albert. There are building plans lodged in the Essex records office relating to Francke dated 1924-1926. He was also a Canvey councillor resigning in 1930. He died in 1932 and is buried in St Katherine’s Churchyard.
