Three photos taken soon after the Knightswick Centre was opened. Some shops are still empty. At that time the Supermarket was Key Markets and they also had a café on the left as you entered from Furtherwick Road.

A shop selling items for babies, later Joka’s

The unit which is now Costa was a shop selling musical instruments at one time and Bata shoes were also in there for a while.

Sound (record shop), later Goodies (sweet shop), then the jewellers

Re Key markets in the Knightswick
Does anyone remember when it was in Furtherwick road in the 60s roughly opposite where ripples is now. it was near the corner of Trevia avenue ,a two storey building now gone.

Key Markets was where Boots now is. The shop to the left of it was Peachey’s greengrocers (now a slot machine place). Trevia Avenue ran beside Peachey’s.
Tescos was opposite in what is now Superdrug. Our first ‘supermarket’ was Maypoles where the Halifax now is.
The first Keymarket Supermarket was in Oak road opposite Claxtons’ furniture store.
As I recall, Key markets at Oak Road was originally “Greens” Supermarket, which evolved from Green and Dyson grocery store which operated on the same corner.
Pollards took over the Greens stores site. If I remember correctly Sketchley Dry Cleaners took over the Key market site
The outside was

* Bike and Motorcar factor shop (can’t remember the name)
*Martins
*Batas
*Mayfair Curtains (became Rosebys)
*Fads DIY
*Nash’s Butchers
*Shoefair
Don’t forget the record shop – pretty sure it was called Sounds (although for some reason I’ve got an image of Our Price in my head) which at one point was turned into a video rental store.
The car & bike shop on the outside was Macrays. This later became a record shop called Bee Bees.
There was also a branch of Radio Rentals between Quenby Photographic and Select
