This photograph was dated 1980. It shows the old sea wall with the Labworth in the distance. The work on the new seawall had apparently not arrived here by this date.

Re: the picture dated 1980 showing “the old 1953 seawall” having only just come across it,it reminded me seeing the concrete infilling just above the rocks that some time in the 1960’s when I was cycling to work along eastern esplanade I kept getting deluged with salty spray-on looking over the other side of the wall I was amazed to see large areas gouged out of the wall by a very rough sea,subsequent to that large amounts of ready mixed concrete were poured into these gaps as illustrated in the above photo at various place along the sea front.I wonder if anyone else remembers this?
