Lee Brilleaux Memorial Walk in Photos

9th May 2008
By David Bullock

Every year Dr Feelgood Manager Chris Fenwick hosts a walk for Dr Feelgood fans around Canvey Island. People travel from all over the world to visit Canvey for the annual Lee Brilleaux Memorial Show held at the Oyster Fleet Hotel.

This year, 9th May 2008, was the 15th show and we met up at the Lobster Smack to start the walk after an opening speech from Chris (See HERE). This year we were joined by film maker and director Julian Temple who is making a documenty film about the Feelgoods.

We started at the location of the first album 'Down by the Jetty' and walked east past the Methane Terminal, around Dead Mans Point and Thorney Bay and stopped to admire Ove Arup's Art Deco Labworth Building. After another brief stop for an Ice Cream at the Concord Cafe we continued east around Canvey Point past the former location of the Concrete Barge and stopped at Canvey Heights.

Here Chris showed us the creek where as children he used to play on the marshes with Lee around Long Horse Island where Lee's ashes were spread after his untimley death.

Chris then took us to the members only Canvey Club at Smallgains Corner where he bought every walker a pint!

I would like to thank Chris Fenwick for his hard work, kindness and generosity to all the visitors on Lee's day.
