Idyllic Canvey

Another Claxton Clip

Another clip from the Claxton DVD donated by Michael and Lin Swanson.

This time we have the Dutch Cottage plus Sheep Sheering and Pig Sticking on Cook’s Farm, which was just to the North of the Village where we now have the Avenues. Lin Swanson’s father Bob Jennings used to work at the farm. I think she said he was in this clip. Please tell me below if I got it wrong Lin.

The clips start with the original title pages.

  • I am hoping Lin Swanson can put a date on it for us. All I can tell you at the moment is the films on the DVD were taken between Mid 1930’s and 1940’s.

  • I dont recognise anyone in this clip, my father is in another clip – chicken thieves. Some other family members are in other scenes, will add names when we see the clips. Lin

  • Jan We were not aware that the “Chicken thieves” had been put on the archive. If it is on, please can you give us a link to it.

  • No it isn’t yet. I sent Cathy a copy of the cd as she is a member of the Claxton family, so she has seen it. The rest of the clips are on my to-do list for the winter.
