Canvey Wick Nature Reserve
Photos from Northwick
Canvey Wick is a very special Nature reserve, it has more rare wildlife than any other part of the country. It featured on the BBC nature programe with Alan Tichmarsh.

Soon it will be taken over by the Royal Society for the Protection for Birds (RSPB) and millions of pounds over ten years will create a wonderful nature reserve for all to enjoy. I hope you enjoy some of the photos i have taken over canvey wick this year.

Speaking as a photographer with a life-long interest and lots of publications under my belt, I’d say these pictures are excellent in their genre. Impressive.
Hi Dave
The photo of the Common Blue butterfly is absolutely mesmerizing, probably the best wildlife image I’ve seen. Perhaps it could be used as the emblem for the campaign against the suggested flooding of this valuable nature reserve.
I saw in the summer 2009 shocking pink butterflies they had black bodies over the fields near cornialus school i tried to find out about them but could find nothing about them, can anyone help
Stunning photos. And great news about Canvey Wick. Remarkable how wildlife flourishes in seemingly unexpected places. Lets hope they are left in peace for many years to come.
how wonderful that this dark and dire corner of England has been reclaimed for something so rare and so special. Long may it prosper.
