In placing before you this edition of “Captivating Canvey” I should, on behalf of the Canvey Island Chamber of Trade, like to welcome you to Canvey Island. This may be your first visit or you may be an acquaintance of long­standing. But in either case our welcome to you is real and sincere.

As you browse through the following pages you will see that Canvey Island is a place that ranks in the forefront of modern sea side resorts. All tastes are catered for, from light amusements to the more serious affairs of the mind.
