We have recently been given a copy of Scott’s Illustrated Guide to Canvey-on-sea, written and illustrated by Ellen E Mann, which was for sale in 1906 for 3d.

The guide is full of stories about the Island and has many photographs we have not seen before.

It is very old and in a bad way therefore some of the photos are not as clear as we would like but well worth a look.
