It would appear that the businesses on Canvey Island were ready to move on from the restrictions of wartime Canvey. There are many familiar names and some we have not seen before. No doubt they will ring bells for many of you.

Memories, memories, I was living on Canvey when all of these businesses were operating!! It was good to see, especially, The Gas Light and Coke Company office right where it was when I joined them in 1949!! Also, Vandersteens Fishmongers, I went to school with the Vandersteen girls. So many of the other ads bring back post war and war time memories!!! Thanks for such an important item for the Archives.
