When Half a Crown was worth something

1st Prize – 2/6d Postal Order
Sometime in the early 50’s CIUDC ran a Road Safety Competition for children to write a poem about road safety. I wrote the following (with the help of my Mum)

All good children in the Street
Use their eyes instead of their feet
They never dash into the road
But always remember the Highway Code

This was published in the then Canvey News. Can anyone else remember winning a 2/6d Postal order
