Community Day

Friday 22nd was Community Day. It was based around the Library and Town Council Offices. A large number of Community groups attended including the Environment Agency, Team 2100, Essex Police and Fire Service, Trustlinks, Yellow Door, Wyvern Transport, Canvey Rotary and U3A to name but a few. The Canvey Community Choir kept visitors entertained and children were delighted to be able to get on a classic coach from the Transport Museum parked outside the Library.

The event was very popular with people jostling to look at what the groups based in the Library had to offer. Lots of positive comments were heard about the day and all credit must go to the ladies in the Library who came up with the idea a couple of years ago. Unfortunately Covid and lockdowns beat them to it so it’s only just taken place. The Town Council worked closely with the Library to provide a real mixed bag of community groups. Well done everyone! I hope we can look forward to something similar next year.

Environment Agency where we spoke to a man with a plan regarding our benches and B17 information board that will be removed and stored during the repairs being made to the seawall over the next few years. Unfortunately this will coincide with the 80th anniversary of the B17 collision. But the man with a plan said not to worry we will sort something.
