Gary Foulgar after many, many years looking for coins etc on and around Canvey has at last found a Dutch coin. It is his first Canvey – Dutch connection. The coin is dated from c1607 as can be seen in the black and white picture below of a similar coin. It is made of copper and has a Frisian farmer with sword on shoulder between F – O (Frisia Ordines) in inner circle on one side. On the right I have enhanced the photo to make it a little clearer. Unfortunately the other side is not clear on a photo Gary provided.
Many Roman coins have been found here but we have not heard of any Dutch ones. Have you?
