Linda Mills presents the selfsteering gear, with the Canvey Coat of Arms painted on it to Bob Hawkridge of Canvey who is to sail non stop around the world.
The photo was dated July 1972. Can anyone tell us if he actually managed to sail around the world? Cannot find anything on the internet. If you know something please comment below.

My cousin was married to Bob at the time of him sailing. As far as I remember all contact was lost after him sailing around Cape Horn. After several years he was declared missing presumed dead & she acquired a widow’s status. I also believe that a member of The King family put up a reward for information of his whereabouts but to no avail.
