Suspended carnival girl Sandra Langlois last night saw money she raised go to charities. The 19-year old Canvey deputy queen was relieved of her duties after a sponsored walk in September when she raised £125. she had told sponsors that the money would be given to charities at a carnival dance, but organisers had a change of mind and rapped Sandra for talking to the press. But last night she handed out two cheques of £62.50, one to Canvey RNLI and one to the island’s Phoenix Club. Blonde Sandra who presented the money at the Phoenix Club’s Halloween dance at The Paddocks in Long Road said:” The carnival association wanted to give out the money next year, but I won’t be in office next year. I can’t see any wrong in it; I raised the money, so I’m giving it”. The cheques were accepted by Phoenix Club president Mr Eddie Stacey and Canvey RNLI president Mr Bernard Griffith.
