On 1st February 2023 we were honoured that the Lord Lieutenant of Essex Jennifer Tolhurst attended the unveiling of the memorial plaque of the 70th anniversary of the great Flood. After the unveiling she popped into the Library to look at our display relating to the flood and chat with members of the Essex Record Office. Whilst there she was presented, on behalf of the Archive, with a few items as a reminder of her visit.
In her ‘goody bag’ were a copy of our Flood DVD, book relating to the Dutch Memorial and Museum at Ouwerkerk, our promotional postcard, our history map and a flyer advertising the Flood Exhibition on Saturday 25th February with a personal invitation to attend. She thanked everyone at the Archive for the work they do in keeping Canvey history alive in Islander’s minds.
