Memories of Warner Wallace
1945 - 2017
My dad Warner Wallace was born at home in Handel Rd the bungalow was called Weoenarib. His mother was Doris Wallace known as Dolly or Doll.
Warner lived at Handel rd, then onto Sydervelt Road for many years with his parents and brothers, Lynn and Brent. We had many wonderful summers at Sydervelt Rd where all the children would come and play in my nans garden my dad and nan spent hours planting and it would flower beautifully.
Our back garden looked onto Surig road and my friend the Slates lived there. Our cousins Debbie, Karen and Michelle would come and we would spend long summer days playing , all being thrown into the bath together at the end of the day and then all jumping into one bed to sleep. c
My dad then moved to Maple way by the mid 80s he had a plumbing and heating business on the Island but worked all over the UK.
Warner attended William Reed school, he was a choir boy on the Island and he was in the cubs/scouts as a child. He played darts at the Haystack and Jellicoe and many other places.
He married my mum Heather Clayton on the island in 1968.
He passed away on the 23rd August 2017 and was cremated at Bowers Gifford, he has a memorial bench on canvey seafront.

Hi Dawn, I worked for Wal in the mid 80’s, he gave a 16 year old a chance, I learnt a lot, and remember him and Dol with lots of good memories. Really sorry to hear he has passed away.
Richard
