I wonder if any one can help with this. I found it amongst my Grandmothers papers.
She was Doris Manly who lived in Westman Road from about 1920 And Married Edward William Manly.
The first Manly who came to Canvey was William Manly born in Fullham in 1852 he was a postman but due to ill health (heart condition) he had retired, bought several plots on Canvey and moved out of London. In the 1911 census he was living at the first Westman Lodge Leigh Beck with his wife Jane 57 and their children Florence Caroline 27 Edith Emily 19 and Edward William 14.
Florence was married to Earnest Seabrooke and they had one child as far as I can find out, Ivy Violet ..
This is interesting as Seabrooke is an old Canvey Name, they were Brewers and one of the Seabrook family had a house near Leigh Beck called St Hugh’s which burnt down.
Jane and William are both recorded in the cemetery at St Katherine’s Church. I cannot make this information fit the photo as much as I would love it to be William and Jane.
It is on a post card with no other in formation. There are some interesting buildings on the left of the picture but I have ruled out the old village school St Kathrine’s and the Vicarage .
It is a mystery.
