Marriage of Georgina Hunt and Len Cook

The wedding of Georgina Hunt who married Len Cook in 1953. Georgina’s parents and mine were friends in south London and some years after my parents moved to Canvey the Hunts followed. They lived next door but one to us in Wamburg Road. Len was from Cooks Farm and the old farmhouse was on the righthand side of what is now Link Road, just after the Silver Jubilee pub. In those days it was all their farm fields as far as Denham Road.

Georgina had TB when she was in her late teens, as did Len. I used to sit by her bed and she would teach me songs, one of which was Golden Slumbers. In the photo old Canveyites will spot Audrey Hunt next to Georgina and me on the far left, aged about nine.

Len & Georgina left Canvey when the farm was sold and moved to farm at Fobbing before moving on again. Len died a few years ago. Georgy and I stayed in touch until her death a couple of weeks ago. She still missed Canvey.
