A look back at the paddle steamer Medway Queen

About 1950 my mum and dad took me and my two brothers for a day trip on the Medway Queen. We sailed from Southend Pier to one of the Medway ports – I can’t remember which one.
Last Saturday I visited the Medway Queen at Gillingham where the ship has been saved from the scrapyard and is being restored by volunteers of the Medway Queen Preservation Society. I wonder if anyone else remembers sailing on the Medway Queen?

  • Hi Lin,
Nice photo of you on the Medway Queen, good to see you got over to visit the paddle steamer over at Gillingham. I remember a trip on her from Southend to Clacton think it must have been in the late 50s.
