  • I left Furtherwick in 1969 and this side playground in front of the orange kitchen building was used as an overflow carpark at that time usually full of scooters and the occasional small car.

  • The orange building was not a kitchen by the 80s but classrooms; I taught music in there, and there were also Geography rooms, Drama Studio and toilets.

  • The kitchens were adjacent to the orange block. You could access them through the drama studio (what a magical place that was) wardrobe room.

  • I reckon the orange building was the 5th year common room added in @ 1968. My mate Gerald Marrison larking about managed to make a huge hole in the interior plasterboard wall not long after it was built – hilarious. He was made to repair it – even funnier. Gavin Stevenson
