Hello These are Dutch “Botter” type boats, and there was one still at Dauntless boat yard in the 60s Waterside farm and cottage in the background. Regards Sparrow

The boats on the picture above aren’t Dutch “Botter” type boats. These are just normal Thames Barges with side boards to avoid drift. The only similarity between the two is the flat bottom and the use of the side boards which enabled these boats to enter shallow waters.
