Around Canvey Heights

Most of my walks I use as a training spin, because I do race walking. Living in Tewkes Road is very convenient for me, because I can go 100 yards down the road to pick up the sea wall, and I can either go eastward out towards Kings Camp, right the way round the sea wall, up past Small Gains Creek, right back, I can either carry along there and go right along the sea wall and then come back up May Avenue, or I can cut across and come back up the tip road, or Small Gains, and come back through Small Gains. Alternatively, 1 can either go up to the top of Tewkes Road, down either through May Avenue and back on the sea wall and do the walk in reverse. Both ways is a good walk because it’s very interesting. There’s interesting scenery all the way round, you have the Hadleigh Downs, looking out, on my left if I go out on the eastward walk, or if I go on the westward way and come back, I have the whole of the sea front, looking out towards the Point, and it’s quite an enjoyable walk. Alternatively, there’s walks all round Canvey, and it’s a beautiful place for me to go walking, there’s plenty of interest. But it’s quite flat, that’s the only problem for me, if I want to do altitude training I have to go to Benfleet, but Canvey Heights now has given me some incentive to do a bit of hill walking up Canvey Heights.
