This postcard has been dated c1939. It is of the shop of William Lewis Money a wireless dealer. The shop was in the High Street opposite Florence Rd next door to Clements Dairies which was later Chambers. The shops look like they were identical. Clements/Chambers dairies shop survives today on the corner of Chamberland Avenue.
William was born in 1902 in Norwich, Norfolk to Benjamin and Anna Money. When he came to Canvey we do not know he is not in the 1929 Electoral Register. He married his wife Nancy Cook on Canvey at St Katherine’s Church on the 4th November 1934. At that time William stated he lived at ‘Avalon’, Lottem Road and Nancy lived in Runnymead Rd and her father John Cook was stated as being a Warrent Officer. William died in January of 1941 and is buried in St Katherine’s Churchyard.

I think it must be the shop that later became “Picketts cycles”
I belonged to the Dinky toy club there
