The Plaque presented to Canvey Island for Warship Week 1942
In January 1942, a target of £14,000.00 was set for the people of Canvey Island to finance a Harbour Defence Craft. The actual amount of money raised in was £29,280-19s-3d. The vessel allocated to Canvey Island was H.M.M.L. 115. There are no records of H.M.M.L. 115 actually coming to Canvey Island, only members of the crew who attended a Civic Ceremony to exchange plaques. This invitation to the people of Canvey Island today is to raise the target of £500.00 which will bring H.M.M.L. 115 to the ‘Island’ in the form of a professionally built Museum quality model 50 inches long.
