A friend and I reached the B17 crash site soon after it had pancaked along the mud, bounced up and gone in engines first. It was burning furiously but it wasn’t long before the little red jeep fire engine came over the sea wall. We were soon told to”get back” as there was ammunition exploding, so we returned to watch from the sea wall. What a terrible day of memories!!
