Just seeing that crash site brings back the memory that I have of arriving there soon after the crash. The big bomber had gone in nose first and was burning. We were told to get back to the sea wall as ammunition was exploding. The little red jeep from the Canvey Fire Brigade was also just arriving, it was a terrible sight, with wreckage scattered everywhere. Thank goodness the Bomber reached that location before crashing, otherwise it could have been a much worse situation.!!
