Can you tell us when this was?
According to the Lifeguards incident book (donated by Copper Hastings) there was raft race on the 16th July 1977. Is this the only time or did it happen every year?

The Raft Race brought back memories. I believe it was won by the team on a Banana. It was raced from the Point to Thorney Bay or vice versa depending on the tide on an annual basis, I think for a period of about 3 years. It probably stopped when the sea wall started.
