Not only a demonstration but with Charles Carey looking on. It had to be as close to the real thing as possible. No way could we take short cuts. We were all very serious about what we were there for. The first one out to the rescue named as fast swimmer to hold and reassure the subject and start mouth to mouth resuscitation if required. I having got the harness on got out there as quickly as poss turned subject onto their back holding them close gave, 1 arm signal ready to be towed back also prepared to give mouth to mouth if needed at the beach the others would take over. There was never any thought of not acting in reality it was serious practise.
