In January 1981 the children from Long Road Junior and Infants School entertained the members and helpers of the WRVS Luncheon Club at the Baptist Hall in Baardwick Avenue.

The following pictures are from before the new building in Poplar Road was opened in 1987 and are from the only album to survive the fire that gutted the club a few years ago.

I would like to thank the WRVS for allowing us to publish them.

More pictures and stories of the WRVS can be seen here.

  • That’s me in the middle two photos, at the front with the glasses and knitted waistcoat!!!!! I have vague memories of this. I’m struggling somewhat to put names to faces but I can recognise our music teacher, Miss Littlejohn.
