Early 80th Birthday Lunch for Ray Howard MBE.

At the Heritage Centre.

This is a serious business!

Ray Howard MBE, Mr Canvey himself, turns 80 next week. In honour of his continued support of the Heritage Centre it was decided to hold a buffet lunch in celebration with food provided by Rosemary Dubois and Mavis. Along with Rebecca Harris MP there were guests who had had either a long association with Ray or with the Heritage Centre.

Ray was delighted with the 2 paintings he was presented with and then found enough puff to blow out the candles on his birthday cake. Don Maclean gave a short speech thanking Ray for his support when the Heritage Centre was first founded thus saving it from demolition and making the building available for future generations. Ray in turn thanked everyone for helping him celebrate his almost 80th birthday and expressed a wish that all the museums on the Island should continue to work together to preserve Canvey’s heritage.
