I’ve so many memories of the Jellicoe, used to wait in the car while my dad drank in there, and annoy him by tooting the horn to get him to come out for no reason. In later years I had many a good night in the jellico. There will be no traditional pubs on canvey at this rate. shame if it goes

I worked as Pot boy and cleaner there when i was 11/13 , 1966/8 . My mum was a barmaid and Ken was the name of the landlord. I used to clean his car when i finished my other jobs. I also used to buy used singles from the guy changing them on the juke box. I also worked in the Haystack in very early ’60s and then later on in the Waters Edge (1971-2). Still as Pot boy as i was still only 16.
