Codicil to the Will of James Richmond

of Canvey Island Dated 1824

In the name of God Amen. I, James Richmond of Canvey Island, in the Parish of South Bemfleet in the County of Essex this 25th day of November 1824. Do hereby annex this as my last will and desire to my former will, Dated the 24th day of March 1813 — It having pleased Almighty God to spare my Life to see my two children arrive to the Age of twenty one Years. And that on the third day of December, 1823, I having given my eldest child, my son James, in the Parish of Rayleigh my Farming Crops, Stock and Implements to the Amount of Five Hundred Pounds —– My will and desire now is, that my Freehold and Copyhold ?????????, Houses, Lands, Tenements, Hereditaments and real Estate, whatsoever, and wheresoever and whatever nature kind or sort the same shall be, or consist, at the time of my Decease, be sold as it is expressed in my former will. And that after paying all my Just Debt my beloved Wife Susan and my Daughter Susan, to have a sum each of them equal, to the sum I have given to my son James Richmond, in the Parish of Rayleigh, in Farming crops, Stock and Implements, on the third day of December 1823 —— And that the rest residue and remainder, my Wife Susan to have the remainder of her Life, and at her disposal at her Decease —-
