A 24-hour dart-playing marathon raised more than £600 for the Save The Children Fund in the Silver Jubilee pub, Link Road, Canvey.

But though their arms ached, the pub darts team still had enough energy to join the disco at the end.

Landlord Roger Burman provided breakfast in the middle of the marathon and there were raffles at the disco.Prizes were signed West Ham football, an autographed Leo Sayer record and bottles of whisky.

Canvey Save the Children Fund spokesman Mrs Joyce Ward, of Little Gypps Road, said the branch had now raised just under £2,000 in a year.
