Artist in Residence-The Project

As part of our artist in residence project ‘Postcards from Canvey Island’ we would like to invite students, parents and families to contribute to a ‘living archive’ of life on the Island.

We are working with CanveyIsland.Org to add to their existing on line archive documenting the Island’s history. You can scan old photographs, take digital images or offer stories, poems, drawings, interviews or recollections about yourselves, your family or your favourite places on Canvey Island, past and present, which can then be shared by other Canvey residents. Explore the existing fantastic archive, there might be some familiar people and places.

Artist in residence at Cornelius Vermuyden School, Vanessa Rolf, will be using the archive and the new material we hope to gather to create a large textile map of the Canvey Island with students at the school and other community groups in the area.
